Een absolute primeur: een “groen” labogebouw met een E60 energiepeil!
Sinds 2006 is in Vlaanderen de energieprestatieregelgeving van kracht. De energieprestatie van een gebouw wordt uitgedrukt in het E-peil. Hoe lager het E-peil, hoe energiezuiniger het gebouw. Momenteel moet een gebouw een minimaal E-peil van 100 hebben. In theorie is het zelfs mogelijk een E50 peil te realiseren (= passief bouwen)
AkzoNobel streeft naar een E60 peil voor het nieuwe technische centrum. Een enorme uitdaging én heuse primeur voor de sector, zeker als men weet dat een E50-normering met de huidige bouwtechnologieën nog niet haalbaar is voor laboratoria.
Om dit lage energie labogebouw te realiseren wordt het energie-efficiëntie principe gehanteerd bij zowel inplanting, indeling en installatie. Concreet vertaalt zich dat in:
- een compact volume, doordacht ingeplant en georiënteerd
- een modulaire indeling, gebaseerd op virtuele labomodules
- een geïntegreerd ontwerp van structuur, leidingen en circulatie
- blootgestelde thermische massa met betonkernactivering en een groen dak
- doorgedreven thermische isolatie en luchtdichte detaillering van de gebouwschil
- passieve verwarming en koeling d.m.v een warmtepomp en geo-thermsiche boringen
- efficiënte technologie voor ventilatie, verlichting en warmte recuperatie
- regelbare zonnewering
- fotovoltaïsche zonnepanelen
- inregeling, opvolging en efficiënt beheer
Bij de realisatie van het project wordt de BREEAM-methodologie (Building Research EstablishmentBRE Environmental Assessment Method) gehanteerd.
Het gebouw zal op het vlak duurzaamheid zeer vooruitstrevend zijn en het E60 energiepeil - het zgn. “green energy label “excellent” – dragen.
Vanuit een langetermijn strategie investeert AkzoNobel in duurzaamheid. Dit nieuwe gebouw wordt de belichaming van ons bouwen aan een groene toekomst!
Une première absolue: un complexe de laboratoires ‘vert’ avec un indice de performance énergétique E60!
La Flandre applique depuis 2006 une législation qui régit les performances énergétiques. Dans ce domaine, les performances d’un bâtiment s’expriment par un indice E. Cet indicateur est d’autant plus faible que le bâtiment est économe en énergie. A l’heure actuelle, un bâtiment ne peut pas être construit avec un indice supérieur à 100. Il est en principe possible de descendre jusqu’à un indice E50 (équivalent à celui d’une maison passive).
AkzoNobel veut atteindre un indice E60 pour son nouveau centre technique. Cela constitue un défi considérable et une véritable première dans le secteur, quand on sait que l’indice E50 reste hors de portée des bâtiments de laboratoires avec les technologies de construction actuelles.
La réalisation de ce complexe de laboratoires basse énergie requiert le respect du principe d’efficacité énergétique à trois niveaux : l’implantation, la répartition des espaces internes et les installations. Ce que cela signifie concrètement :
- Un volume compact, agencé et orienté de manière optimale
- Une répartition modulaire de l’espace, en fonction de modules de labos virtuels
- Une conception intégrée de la structure, des canalisations et de la circulation
- Une masse thermique exposée avec activation du noyau béton et un toit couvert de verdure
- Une isolation thermique poussée et l’étanchéité à l’air de l’enveloppe du bâtiment
- Un chauffage et une réfrigération passifs, par le biais d’une pompe à chaleur et de forages géothermiques
- Une technologie performante pour la ventilation, l’éclairage et la récupération de chaleur
- Des protections solaires réglables
- Des panneaux photovoltaïques
- Une régulation, un suivi et une gestion efficaces
La réalisation du projet fera appel à la méthodologie BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method).
Le bâtiment sera franchement à la pointe de ce qui se fait en matière de durabilité et pourra être fier de son indice énergétique E60, qui lui vaut le “green energy label : excellent”.
La volonté de développement durable émane de la stratégie à long terme d’AkzoNobel. Ce nouveau bâtiment sera la figure emblématique de nos investissements dans un avenir plus vert !

Een ontwerp met oog voor duurzaamheid in al zijn facetten
Na een grondige evaluatie koos AkzoNobel voor het ontwerp van SVR Architects NV. (Storme / Van Ranst). Dit ontwerp getuigt niet alleen van een grote kennis over laboratoria maar is duurzaam vanuit de kern: een modulair gebouw met een optimale benutting van het aantal m2 op een beperkt grondoppervlak, met het uitzicht voor de buurtbewoners en met praktische en open inrichting van de ruimtes.
Basiselementen voor het ontwerp zijn: duurzaamheid, ergonomie, HSE, onderhoud, innovatie, uitstraling, functionaliteit, budget, daglicht, inplanting en milieuvriendelijkheid. De milieuzorg is één van de stokpaardjes en vertaalt zich in een maximaal behoud van bestaand groen en de keuze voor bouwmaterialen en technologieën om het energieverbruik te beperken en hoofdzakelijk hernieuwbare energie aan te wenden.
Un concept qui se veut durable sous tous ses aspects
Après un examen approfondi des propositions, AkzoNobel a retenu le projet de la S.A. SVR Architects (Storme / Van Ranst). Il faut dire que le projet en question témoigne d’une grande connaissance des laboratoires, tout en adoptant une optique fondamentalement durable. Le bâtiment est modulaire et exploite idéalement chaque mètre carré tout en se contentant d’une empreinte réduite au sol. Les fenêtres offrent une vue sur le quartier avoisinant. Les espaces sont ouverts et agencés pour être aussi pratiques que possible.
Le projet est régi par la quête simultanée de la durabilité, de l’ergonomie, du HSE (Health, Security, Environment), d’une maintenance aisée, de l’innovation, de l’image de marque, de la fonctionnalité, d’un budget abordable, de la lumière du jour, de la situation et du respect de l’environnement. Cette écoresponsabilité constitue d’ailleurs un des chevaux de bataille du projet et se traduit par une préservation maximale de la verdure aux abords et le choix de matériaux de construction et de technologies destinés à réduire la consommation d’énergie tout en recourant principalement aux énergies renouvelables.
